Katherine gripped the handles tightly, paint chips falling off. A tear rolled down her cheek, rolled off her chin, and splashed to the ground. She was ready, even though she had no idea what may come ahead of her. A bird flew through the air, flying free, something she wished she could be. She wasn't the brave type of person, she stood back waiting for someone else to make a first move before she did. But somewhere in her heart she knew she could be brave, that she could stand up for somewhere and be there for them. She didn't know she had to be brave at such a young age. She didn't know she would have to die if it came to be. She was frightened, her stomach flip-flopped, her heart pounded, her mouth became dry. Even though she was homeless with no mother or father to be at her side she was very responisble. She had been caring for herself ever since she was 3 years old. She never had someone she could look up to, someone she could hide behind in the dark days, or be able to say "I love you". Her mom died when she was born, her father 3 years after that. But even though she hasn't been able to say or do those things a little bit of hope clung to her heart inside her body, like a spark in a fire that you know is going to go out any second, because now she was 8 years old and she was responisble for leading a war to save her country.

Hi fluffygiraffe,

Could you move this to the Short Fiction/Post Work In Progress boards? That's where you post work that you'd like feedback on. This is just the General Discussion board.

Thanks,
