Hi Everyone,

So i know some people are having trouble with their posts because they aren't familiar with HTML codes. So I created this thread for people to post questions about HTML so we can help everyone! Also, if there are codes you already know that can help people, please post them as well. This will be an on-going reference thread for HTML help. Here are some basic codes to help:

New paragraph:
Some people have had trouble starting new paragraphs. If you want to hit the enter/return key, it won't show in a post.
Instead post: < br > (without the spaces)
This will separate paragraphs. You can also posts it twice to create a space between the two paragraphs.

Bold:
If you want to make your text bold, post this:
< b > your text here < /b > (without the spaces)

Italics:
If you want to make your text italic, post this:
< i > your text here < /i > (without the spaces

Different Colors:
If you want to make your text a different color, post this:
<@FONT COLOR="color code here"@>your text here<@/FONT@> (without the @ symbols)
then you replace where it says "color code here" with a different color code. here are some common color codes:

RED: #FF0000
BLUE: #0000FF
YELLOW: #FFFF00
PURPLE: #800080
GREEN: #008000
ORANGE: #FFA500
CYAN: #00FFFF
LIME: #00FF00
MAROON: #800000
FUCHSIA: #FF00FF

If you have any questions or need help, feel free to post on this thread! Happy posting!

Thanks, Brian! :D

Heading are also very useful. Examples:

Heading 1

To make heading 1, simply type < h1 > without the spaces, type your text, and then type < / h1 >.

Heading 2

To make heading 2, it is basically the same as heading 1. type < h2 > without the spaces, type your text, then put a slash to end it. ( < / h2 > )

Heading 3

It is the same as heading 1, and 2. Just with a 3!

Now that you probably have the hang of it, I will just show you what the other ones look like! :D

Heading 4

Heading 5

Heading 6

Another tip: To make a space break like
this, (just skips a line, not an actual divide thing, :P) simply type < div > without the spaces!

I hope this helps all of you! :D

Hi Brainyathena30,

First, if you want color, replace the part that says "your text here" with what you want to type. Only the stuff that you type in that part of the code will be a different color.

Second, if you use the < br > code without the spaces, it will create a new paragraph. If you notice, there is a space between each of my paragraphs. That is because it typed < br > twice after each paragraph. So, if you want a signature, you can use < br > when you're done with you're post to separate your signature and your post.

I'm sorry it's complicated, but hopefully this helps. If you have any more questions feel free to ask!

Does anyone know the official names of various fonts? If someone could list a few examples that would be great :)

Great idea! :D

Here are a few tips and codes:

If you want a bigger line break (like the one above), use two or three of the following codes:
< p >
< div >
< br >
I don't think it works if you use two of the same in a row (at least, in my experience), but if you use two different codes, it'll work.

There are other colors you can use in html... I'm sure if you look it up, you'll find a list of all the codes!

To change the font, you can use this code: (Make sure you delete the "@" signs)

<@font face="FONT NAME"@> YOUR TEXT HERE <@/font@>

Example

To change the size of the font, use this code: (Make sure you delete the "@" signs)

<@font size="NUMBER"@> YOUR TEXT HERE <@/font@>

Here are the size numbers in html:

1
2
3
4
5
6
7

Hope that helped! :D

@Skyelark-- Thanks, I didn't know you could do that!

OKAY KIDDOS A FEW THINGS!

For marquee A.K.A "moving text" there are different codes, depending on what you want. As a reminder for the HTML to work you will need to replace the ( and ) with < and >

Here's a starter, if you want the text to scroll left...
...like this...
Here is the code: (marquee behavior="scroll" direction "left")Your text here(marquee)

You can also do different scroll speeds...

Slow scroll...
Code: (marquee behavior="scroll" direction="left" scrollamount="1")Slow scroll speed(/marquee)

Fast scroll...
Code: (marquee behavior="scroll" direction="left" scrollamount="10")Your text here(marquee)

And a special scrolling one...

When your mouse hovers over me, I slow down!
Code: {marquee behavior="scroll" direction="left" scrollamount="12" onmouseover="this.setAttribute('scrollamount', 3, 0);" onmouseout="this.setAttribute('scrollamount', 12, 0);"}When you hover over this text, it slows down!{/marquee}
(P.S, on this one replace the squigly brackets with the < and > and leave the normal parentheses alone!)

There's also a way to make the things "bounce" on the screen... ...like this...
Just use this code: (marquee behavior="alternate" direction="up")Your text here(/marquee)

Well, that's all for my marquee secrets, have fun!

Hi Brilliantviolet5, let's try this. Here is code to turn text red. First copy and paste the code below into a post exactly the way it is.

<@FONT COLOR="#FF0000"@>your text here<@/FONT@>

Then delete only the @ symbols. After that, click preview and see if red text appears. After that, you can delete the part that says "your text here" and type whatever you want and it will appear as red!

Let me know if that works!

Yay!! It worked!! Thanks Mod Brian! I'm trying to think of what I was doing wrong before and I think I actually put in the name of the color where it says Font color and I put in the name of a font where it says Font..Thanks!! :D
