Rays of the Sun

Bouncing off the walls and windows,

I see a shining light.

They dance around,

Gleaming with all their might.

They warm you up,

So you don’t have to wrap up tight.

Sometimes they burn your eyes,

When they shine so bright.

But they soon disappear

Shortly before night.

When you see the rays disappear

They are replaced by starlight

They can shine many different colors,

The most blinding of all is white.

Sometimes they hurt my eyes,

While I wish they wouldn’t gleam so bright.

It’s not like they are alive,

So you can’t tell them to be more polite.

Though when you think about the rays of the sun,

I often think of them as a person.

And when they get angry.

The blinding lights worsen.

That’s how I think of the rays of the sun.

They are beautiful,

But sometimes they are not fun.

They run and jump and play,

But soon they will be done.

We will not be in complete darkness

We will be accompanied by starlight.

Which is just like being shone on By millions of suns willing to share their light.
