Miss Bindergarten Celebrates the 100th Day of Kindergarten by: Joseph Slate
Find this book at Scholastic's Teacher Store #:NTS958498
This beautifully illustrated picture book is a class favorite and my own personal one too!!! The book gives wonderful examples of different 100's collections that the students may create at home. The book also provides class activities while telling a story using a rhyming text. I even got my 100's collection from this story. Miss Bindergarten puts 100 bows on her dress. I put 100 bows on my overalls.
The activities include: Building a structure using 100 blocks, making a snack using 100 items, making a 100th day hat, and a guided writing activity: I could eat 100 _____.

100th DAY WORRIES by: Margery Cuyler

The main character, Jessica is a conscientious student who worries about everything. She is especially concerned with what she is going to bring in for her 100's collection. Through this read aloud there are excellent ideas for your own students to use when they are creating their 100's collection. Here are some examples from the story: 100 ice cubes, 100 marshmallows, 100 toothpicks, 100 yo-yos, 100 peanuts, 100 paper clips, and 100 peppermints. You'll have to read the book to see what Jessica comes up with. I can't spoil the ending for you!!!!

The 100th Day of School by: Angela Shelf Medearis

I use this book to show the students even more ideas of what they could use for their 100's collection. The book also has many class activities that would be terrific for your students to do on the 100th day of school. The activities from the book are: putting 100 bows on a tree, jumping rope 100 times, drawing a snake 100 inches long, creating designs using 100 pennies, making hats with 100 stars on it, blowing up 100 balloons, and baking 100 cookies.

ONE HUNDRED HUNGRY ANTS by: Elinor J. Pinczes
Find this book at Scholastic's Teacher Store #:NTS67298
I use this picture book as a fun read aloud leading up to the 100th day of school. At the math center, I put ant stamps and blank 100's charts. The students are to stamp 100 ants on the 100's chart. To integrate the story, the students are to write about their favorite part. (Staple a picnic tablecloth to a bulletin board. Staple the students' work to the picnic tablecloth. It makes a darling bulletin board for your classroom and adds to the 100th day of school excitement!)
