Black History Month brings to mind those who fought the Civil War and died as heros to save we African Americans from years and years of more slavery. If not for them, I would probably be somewhere out there in the hot sun with a hoe in my hand and bare dirt under my feet, digging away at dry crumbly earth.
It also helps us to remember strong poeple like Frederick Douglas who showed America that African-Americans could truelly learn and Martin Luther King, Jr. who fought against segregation peacefully and Rosa Parks who peacefully sat on a bus not meant for black folks and Jackie Robinson who showed America that black folks CAN play sports and Harriet Tubman, who I admire most of all, who helped hundreds of African-Americans to escape the plantations. I salute these poeple in remebrance of what they accomplished.
It means a lot to me because of what everyone did to help blacks like Rosa Parks not giving up her seat to a white or Jackie Robinson being on a white baseball team and not quitting.

I think black history month means to me as think about all the people such as Martin Luther King Jr.,Rosa Parks, and Hariet Tubmen and everybody else that fought for our rights and help us understand that theres no need for segregation or people not sitting where they wanted,so they got tired of it and decided to start making speches and making the underground rail road so people could be happy and have freedom and it worked thats why now we're together in peace. So we should give a big thanks to these people.
A group of people have been left out of this country's history. It's important to recognize the people whose shoulders I stand on. The Thurgood Marshals, the Adam Clayton Powells, the Shirley Chisolms,Sojourner Truth, Phyliss Wheatley and other who died and fight so we could be considered equal.

Black History month means to me that everybody, no matter where we live, are the same.We are all equal and it should not matter what nationallity, race, or sex we are, where we live, or even how we dress, look, or act like.
Black history month is a good idea because it shows people the way the african americans suffered to be equal in our country. People shouldn't discriminate or segregate people for their race, language, religion, etc.
