Skipping a Grade

 You skip a grade

You move ahead

Your decisions are made

No one listens to what you said

You walk into a new room.

You know no one

You're ready to dive into your tomb

You wish the decision could be undone

A girl walks up to you

You give her a funny look

She says, "hi! Are you new?"

Suddenly your reflexes unhook

You say, "yeah, I'm new"

She looks at me funny

She says "I've been waiting for you!"

Her personality is bright and sunny

She and I become friends

We are friends through fun and hardship

Our personalities blend

Our hearts have a strong grip

My life is bad sometimes

Though I can get through it

Sometimes my life is as sour as a lime

I made friends

I had fun

Nothing ever ends!

Now it's done.

I am now in sixth grade. The shock from first skipping a grade is gone. I still feel it sometimes though. This was done from the perspective a a real person who skipped a grade: me. Would respect feedback!

This poem really touched me. I skipped a grade as well, and it felt really relatable. It is a wonderful poem, just like your others. Your rhythm is very good, and so are your rhymes. I loved this poem so much I printed it out just to stick it on the wall in my room. Keep on writing! :)
