Without Tess by Marcella Pixley is a haunting tale about 10-year-old Elizabeth "Lizzie" Cohen and her beloved 11-year-old older sister, Tess.

Tess has always had a wild imagination. She and Lizzie would spend hours upon end playing magic. Lizzie would watch with fascination as Tess would sketch drawings and write poetry in her Pegasus Journal. But as the girls get older, Tess's imagination becomes even more wild. Harmless drawings turn into disturbing images, and the Cohen's are suddenly hit with the truth: Something is wrong with Tess.

5 years after her sister's death, Lizzie struggles to let Tess go. But with the help of the friendly school psychologist, Tess's journal, and a long-lost friend, Lizzie may finally get the relief she deserves.

Without Tess by Marcella Pixley will be available in stores on October 11th, 2011.
